Hardwater Stain?
I got a 20 gallon tank from someone I know and it had a bunch of hard water stains in it. Looked like lime build up? I was able to scrap all of it off and I let the tank sit in pure vinegar for two days. All of the stuff came off and was sitting at the bottom. Now the glass is really smooth but has a milky look to it. I've taken vinegar and rubbed the tank down in it and that didnt work at all..
What else can I try to get the glass more clear?

It will look clear once filled with water.

I did fill it with water the other day to check for leaks since I was in there scrapping around. It didn't look clear. It was better but you could still see the stuff on the glass...

Are you sure the milkiness is stuff on the glass instead of etched into the glass?
Acrylic tanks, for instance, are quite prone to scratching by certain cleaning utensils.

It's a glass tank. The glass feels really smooth. So I don't think it's in the glass.. Lemma see if I can get a picture of it.

Did you use a razor blade on the glass? That usually works for me. Please use caution when handling sharp things.

Yea. It looks like the glass is stained.

Both of my 55 gallons have etched markings at the top of the tank about 3" down. The water at my old resident was very hard and it kinda ruined the tanks at that water line. I just fill the tanks up to the rim and it no longer shows enough to worry about. Both are glass tanks.

I got this one free from a cust whos hubby stopped messing with it. It was so bad you couldn't see into the tank at all... I cleaned it out really well. It looks a lot better. I don't know if you'll be able to see the marks once the water and stuff gets put in it.
