Can an Oscar and JD get along together?

What size tank? What size are the fish?

Right now the Oscar is in a 55 planted tank (hopefully he doesn't decide to rearange) and only about 3 inches. I was considering getting a JD

When will you be uprgrading your oscar to a 75G+?
My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

You will need a 6ft tank minimum to house both an Oscar and a JD. You would be better off sticking with a smaller companion fish with the Oscar, Salvini and Convicts make much better tankmates. You could also get away with a 75-100G tank with them.

'Probably' is not a plan... Just saying, Is this a 6' tank or a 4'tank?
You will need to do something though as the Oscar will be 8" or so by then and have nearly outgrown the tank.
Not sure what you mean by 'double filtration' as this is the minimum amount of filtration you should have. More is required when you have large deep bodied fish.
IE: I have an Oscar in a 100G tank and it has an EHEIM 2217 & 2026 as well as an AC110 and I am not overfiltered.

Ok well I guess ill wait to get a JD when I have a more suitable tank for it. On my 55 gallon I have a hob filter rated for 70 gallons so what type of filtration system should I add for my Oscar. I have noticed he poops a lot and gets food everywhere when he eats

You should have atleast another large HOB, or preferably a canister like a Fluval 405/406 or a Rena XP3.
