Wow, missed a bit over here, huh?

Congrats on the completed move to 100% ceramic in the filters. =] I honestly haven't had any problems with clarity in the tanks and as far as nitrates go, nothing seems to have changed drastically - neither for better/worse. I'll check again tonight, though, before I do water changes.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your pwc and your fish. I think you're right that the female Krib is probably stressed out. You might try removing the male for a day or so and see if she comes out, then try reintroducing him once she's comfortable.

thanks Kevin. I don't have any place to move Mr Krib or I would. I guess I'll wait it out and see what happens

Regarding the pre filter sponges. On my Cascade intake tube, the sponge had retained it's original shape. But on the New Rena filter, the sponge has compressed tight to the tube. I'm concerned that it may be working the filter motor too hard. it has a lot more power than the cascade so that might be why. Any thoughts on that?

I did not use the AC110 sponge on the 90. (I used it on the 30)

This is a less porous sponges (smaller holes) and it always worked fine on the large HOB but I'm afraid there's not enough water flowing through it or to make the water the water flow through it, it's working the motor too hard.
    Here are some photos

    Any suggestions?

And yea on your rummies! may they fly safe :o)

That's the problem I had with the less coarse sponges. I had to eventually swap it out, because I'd be rinsing out the dumb sponges every other day. I'd try the AC110 sponge. Haven't had any trouble with mine, yet.

Mine have worked fabulous as well, I just rinse in tap water to get sparkling clean, and replace. Thy're not hard to make, either

Yeah, I rinse mine weekly too. Tonight, I removed the PFS from the rena and replaced it with a block of AC sponge. I was really afraid I'd burn up the motor :o*

No escaping snails lately BUT I can't find my female Krib :o( She'd been acting off and hiding out since last Saturday. I've been blaming the mister K for harassing her. Day before yesterday was the last time I saw her. I've searched everywhere (with a flashlight) and she's just no where to be found. My biggest hope is that she's behind the 1 artificial plant that I have in the tank. It's tucked in the far corner and held in place by a tall rock and runs from bottom to top. If she were to lay eggs, maybe she'd lay them on the blase behind it and is watching her brood? she was really fat last time I saw her. Anyway, that's the best case scenario. The worst is that I'll tear the tank apart tomorrow when I make the W/C and I'll find her dead someplace.
It really makes no sense because she has been so healthy and plump (not overly plump) and brilliantly colored. Feeling pretty bad right now.

Oh no...this has been a crazy week for all of us with losing tank inhabitants, and now this!

I will stay hopeful that she is just hiding someplace for now...stay positive Cindy, maybe she is watching over eggs someplace in the tank

I'm hoping and praying you find her
