I do believe this journal is well overdue an update

Okay. Firefly was right. this journal is well over due for an update so I shot some video and a few stills of the tank.
My current stock is 3 blood parrots (which I adore) one Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, one gold sev, one jurupari, a pair of kribs, a baby clown pleco, 7 male congo tetras, my single dwarf gourami (my very first fish) and several apple snails that I raised. This is the original stock from when I set up this tank well over a year ago. Oh - and I have one lone colombian tetra that I couldn't catch when I rehomed the others to the LFS. I'll try again next time I make a trip to the LFS but for now, he thinks he's a congo and shoals with them.
Originally I had a blue angel in this tank but she became very ill and I had to QT her for six weeks last spring. Happy to say she survived and is now thriving in a 30 gal with some harleys and zebra danios, cory cats and a BNP because when I attempted to return her to the 90, she turned into a holy terror and upset the entire tank.

I original decorated with silk plants in addition to the large piece of real driftwood and larger rocks, however I finally made the switch. The driftwood is now planted with nanas, java fern, hornwort and anacharas. Fortunately, all the fish leave the plants alone. I love the look, love that it helps with both nitrates and brown algae.

I'm running the same filters, dual heaters and have not yet missed a weekly water change of 50 - 70% but I'm thinking of adding another canister as the fish are maturing nicely and I think the extra filtration would be beneficial to them. IE - the ebjd was barely over an inch when I got him and he's now a strapping 5+ inches nose to tail.

All and all, it's a very peaceful tank - especially considering the cichlids. Maybe it's because they grew up together. Maybe because they have not yet reached full maturity, but in any case, only rarely do I see the occasional chest bump or chase. Hope it stays that way.

I feed shrimp pellets, cichlid pellets & flake food + once a week they get frozen blood worms and once a week they get frozen brine shrimp. The pleco and the snails devour a slice of zucchini daily and love to also have some super soft spirulina pellets and veggie wafers. The tank is fed once a day - in the morning - and I fast them on the day I change the water and vac the substrate.

I think that about covers it but if you have any questions, just ask.
Here's the video. Photos to follow in the next post

here are some still shots from different angles. As I snap these photos I realize how badly I need a better camera, so apologies up front.
Here's a side shot of the ebjd and 2 of the bp's with a congo tossed in for good measure

this is at the other end of the tank with the gold sev and a bp being shy. you can also spot one of the kribs and some of the congos. note the broken crockery. the ebjd and the bp's love it. I have two in the tank and don't see any possibility of getting rid of them soon.
