I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.

Thanks, Kevin. He's a character all right. It's funny to watch him when he decides he wants to do some bossing around. the bigger fish just ignore him but he gets right in their face for a while before he backs off when no one wants to fight <g>

I don't think I've seen a Jurupari, save for you in your tank. They're magnificent... Wish I could see it in person to see the blue color. He's a beautiful boy. never get tired of watching him.
Also, I love your Sevs... so beautiful. Are they still getting along? I know you were worried about that a while back.
So far, all is good. both are still juvies, though even though they're a good 4 inches or more. I'm very pleased with how peaceful the tank is. We'll see if it lasts. Sure hope so because I'd hate to part with any of these fish.

Thanks Mandy. Yes, it's a male gold sev. The olive green guy with the black vertical stripe near his tail is also a sev. He's really pretty, too when the light hits him right.

Just wait until you have had those congos in your tank for another year or two. They will color up a lot mroe
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I can't imagine they could be any prettier than they are now because they are so gorgeous already. Orange, and blue and gold and yellow with the silver and the black and white on the caudal. Wow. Stunning fish. I'm really looking forward to what's coming as they mature even more :o)

BTW - check out post #344 on page 35 of this journal. There are a couple fairly decent shots of the congos showing their colors in early Dec.

Once they start reaching their maximum size if 3 to 4 inches, they also get a lot deeper colors. For some reason, they seam to mature a lot slower than other tetras. At least that has been my experiance

Cool! Can't wait to see more. I'd say they are pushing 3 inches now and it doesn't seem like they've grown much since I've gotten them, so, yes, slow growing for sure, compared to the other fish in the tank. My LFS called today. He got some more nice big males congos in. Oh, how I'd love to get a few more but I don't dare fit any more fish in that tank. So many fish. So little room o(

Well, there's only one solution. You must set up another tank!
When in doubt, do a water change.

    "This ain't rocket science!"
