Ich gone!
I'm happy to report that the ich is gone! Tuesday (this is Thursday) marked the 7th day without any visible spots so I'm in the process of slowly lowering the temp and doing PWC's to get the salt out of the water and temp back to normal. Fortunately, I didn't lose a single fish and the snails that I had to move out of the tank for fear the salt would kill them are back as of today and seem happy and healthy.
thanks to everyone who offered hand holding and sage advice while I dealt with this nasty stuff.
The tank is mellow and none of the fish seems to have suffered from the excess temps or salt treatment.
So - whew. Catastrophe averted. While I cannot imagine that the ich is not completely irradiated and I have no plans to add more fish to this tank, I'm considering a UV Sterilizer which, I understand, could serve 2 purposes: 1) eliminate the possibility of another ich outbreak and 2) help control the diatom issue which still wants to make a mess of my tank and requires me to pull all rocks and plants to clean every 3 - 4 weeks. I'll update if and when that happens.
One final note: I'm really tickled that the single GBR seems to be thriving in the 90. He's not intimidated by the bigger fish at all and just happily patrols and prowls the tank. He's always front and center come feeding time and none of the fish pay any attention to him. I don't think I'll even attempt to get him a female as I don't want another debacle like the 'tail eating' incident in the 30 gal. Note on that: the little GBR still in the 30 gal is slowly growing his tail back and he looks really good. So, it looks like my pair of rams will survive - just separately, not together LOLLast edited by fishmommie; 01-17-2013 at 09:09 PM.

Good to hear it's gone. If it ever comes back try Quick Cure next time. It can work as fast as 48 hours.

I'm hoping I'll never have to deal with it again but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

I can't remember, did the female survive the tail eating incident?

Does Quick cure stain things like silk plants and rocks and silicone seals? And is it safe for snails?

All my tanks are acrylic so no silicone seams.
If it stained my plants, than it faded pretty fast because I never noticed any difference.
Reseach says to remove any invertebrates. With your Congo's you would probably go with 1/2 strength.Last edited by steeler1; 01-18-2013 at 05:58 PM.

Let's just hope I don't have to go through it again. I'm following up with a week of preventative treatment of Ick Attack. I've been on the company's website and since the product is herbal and natural and they rec the product for preventative, I figure it can't hurt.
