Boy howdy, is that the truth!

Good luck with the German Blue Ram. They are very sensitive and hard to keep. I lost my male 2 month ago and my female isnt doing to good. I think they were over stressed in my community tank. Try to keep the stress levels down by not keep any bottom dwellers in the same tank if they are breeding. That was my mistake.

Hey sorry about losing your male. Hope the female rallies. How long did you have them?

I really appreciate the advice. Took long time deciding to give it a go but everything about my tank seemed to suggest they'd have a good shot thriving in it. I have 6 cories and 1 small BNP on the bottom. tons of nooks and crannies's. And again, I'm not sure what I have - males or females or one of both. I'm not seeing any difference in the shape of the fins that suggest they are females BUT I see no pink on their bellies. So ... who knows. I'm almost hoping for 2 females and then I don't have to worry about the stress of breeding.

YUP. I work at home and I love looking across the room and seeing the tank - especially now that my little swimmers are out and about swimming again. :o)

I have my GBRs for a total of 5 months. I have a wild bunch for bottom dwellers in my community tank. I have 2 panda garras, 2 siamese algea eaters, and 1 two inche bn pleco. They are all way more active then my GBRs and do not respect anyones hiding spots. I have heard corys are really peaceful and shy, so i guess they should be better company for the GBRs. I have no exp with corys.

Yes - the cories are very shy and totally non aggressive. the bn pleco is a clown. He's everywhere in the tank. I've seen him nudge the apple snails off a piece of zucchini but he NEVER approaches another fish. So maybe it will be a good mix. I sure do like these little guys. They are so gorgeous and the colors are constantly changing.

You'll probably gasp but I have a 2 1/4 inch electric blue jack dempsey in the tank (temporarily) with them and the tetras and cories. He was originally in my 90 but he's too little and not aggressive enough to fight for his own food in the bigger tank so I pulled him out and put him in the 30 to grow him out a bit. At this point he is TOTALLY non aggressive. He's kind of like a puppy, actually. He sort of trailed one of the GBR's initially - for about 30 minutes - like he wanted a playmate but when the ram showed no interest, he gave up. He totally ignores all the fish in the tank and just prowls around. If I can get him up to 3 inches, I'll move him back to the 90. I'm hoping that will happen within 6 months.

I think you have a good mix. Don't know much about JDs but if he stays at the mid level most of the time it should not be a problem. GBRs stay most of their time at the bottom.

thanks. and the EBJD is just there temporarily and does stay in the mid range. so we're good to go .... for now :o)

Wow i've never heard of Silver dollars causing that much chaos!! That being said I know there are several different spieces sold as SD's.

That was nice of the LFS to take them back, did the dealer have a comment?

By the way I see you keep horses also? I gave up our last horse two years ago after my dad passed away, he was the real cowboy and I just kept them to make him happy. He was also a big John Wayne fan also, the only actor that could actualy ride a horse, he always said.

By the way glad we got you back!!! There are a couple of more regulars that have been awol that must be having the smae problems.
