Thanks Cindy, I'm actually treating with metro and kanamycin. Metro alone didn't work for me previously so fingers are crossed with this combination. Fish is looking okay but no interest in food yet...relaxing hobby my a$$! Lol, have fun on your trip!

Hey Cindy, I just read this article that CM posted on Rob's river thread and found something of interest. I would recommend you read it (especially the part about "Old Tank Syndrome"). http://www.oscarfish.com/article-hom...manifesto.html

OTS fits your tanks to a T, if you ask me. Seems as though more frequent water changes should clear out the built up acids that are dropping your pH.

When in doubt, ask yourself... W.W.L.S (What would Lee Say)?

You know Kevin, the same thought occurred to me when Cindy first recognized she had a problem with the pH in the 90. Cindy does regular maintenance including water changes. So are you saying she might not be changing enough water and may need to do more frequent large volume water changes? I'll have to admit I'm a bit puzzled over the pH drop. Thanks.

Well, she's been pretty busy this Summer. She went a couple of weeks here and a week there, etc, without water changes and regular maintenance. She's usually very good about keeping up with her pwcs, but this Summer has been pretty erratic. If you remember, she actually reduced her pwcs from 50% to 30%, as well, a while back. It just makes sense to me that this change in maintenance would lead to the symptoms of OTS.

I would tend to agree with you Kevin. That article opened my eyes to quite a lot. Feel like this new information has taken this from hobby to straight up science! hahaha

Cindy has been very busy. I didn't realize the pwc% had gone down and do agree the symptoms are similar to OTS. I hope the addition of the crushed coral helps the situation.

Hi Larry, long time, no yap!

I have found that I have actually increased the size of my PWC's on my 40B to about 65%, figured it couldn't hurt...this confirms that thought

I always do about 75% on the 10G...

Hey Matt! It's been a busy summer for me. You're thinking is right on the water changes..it can't hurt. I do 50% water changes twice weekly, but I don't have any live plants in the tank.

Twice? Wow yeah I bet those fish are happy! lol I shoot for 50% but I'm sure it is actually a little higher than that. Factor in substrate, decor and plants and 10 gallons taken out of a 20 is more than 50% water.
