Actually no, I'm pretty fixated on all that worrying you do. Oh wait....you need a spelling checker.

Oh wait...something just came to me...I really don't think it matters where the coral is as long as it's in the water column and the circulation is good inside the tank. It'll take a while for the calcium to dissolve. You could also just scatter some crushed coral over the substrate as well.

    ...must have been divine intervention....

Yep, just keep it where it is...only in my 45 gallon do I have it in the canister, all others just sit at the bottom of the sump or aging barrels in the qt I hang the bag. I do try to place them by the air stones but I don't think that makes a difference.

Sorry I'm behind here, had to qt my big Rafflesia as he stopped eating and his stomach was swollen, treated with epsom salts but no change. The night I moved him the airline tube popped off the air pump overnight for the sponge filter (luckily the air stone was still running) but when I checked parameters it showed ammonia...ugh...so I'm doing 2 water changes per day on that tank and praying this fish pulls through.

Oh gosh. I'm sorry Judi. I hope he makes it.

If all else fails, up the temp to 98 (yup), dose the water with metro+ and try to feed him medicated flakes.
When my angel bloated up and stopped eating (for 2 weeks) I found out from Indian Woods Angel that Angels, Sevs and sometimes Discus are prone to a particular protozoan that lodges in their intestines and makes it impossible to eat. Heat and metro for 3 - 4 weeks will kill it. You'll know when he's better because he will start eating. My angel didn't eat for 6 weeks. That was over a year ago and she's great now.
I wouldn't do this treatment, however, until after you spoke with your discus supplier and ask if this would be a feasible treatment.

Thanks again for the advice on the coral. I'm adding another cup today after I change the water and hoping for the best.

Good luck and have fun on your trip, Cindy! Sorry I wasn't here for the questions, etc, but I think you've got things covered.

In regards to Metricide, i think you'll find that it has very little effect to pH.

thanks Kevin. I'm hoping that's the case because I started dosing again today. 3 days without and the algae was already starting to cover everything.

I'd like to avoid putting them in the cans because, one, it's a pita, and two, if I have to continue to add to get the pH up, it's like a ground hog's day of pitas :o(

Like Judi said, they are fine the way you did it :)
