Got a new Bowfin!!!
0
Some of you may remember us losing our Bowfin shortly after our long move from OH to PA back in November. We weren't exactly sure what caused his death, but I was bummed out over it...Just as I am when we lose any fish.
Fast forwarding...
This past week was our annual fishing trip to upstate NY and I caught another nice little male Bowin! This one is about 16-17 inches long. He made the long drive home and is in the tank. He even already ate a few chunks of Tilapia fillets last night. I'll post pics soon!

You know you are into monsters when you call a 16-17 inch fish little ;-)
Looking forward to seeing it.
Do as I say. Not as I do.

LOL! Good point!
When you compare this guy to the 8-10 pound females we were catching...He is pretty small! He seems to fit right in with the others anyway. I'll try to get pics tonight.

I know I am breaking some rules here, but I feel pretty confident that I can fix most of what could pop up. I am keeping a very close eye on everyone. Thanks for the concerns though!

Thanks! The last one stayed around 15-16 inches. I know a few PHD/biologists in Michigan that do extensive studies on Gar and Bowfin. They claim that bowfin seem to max out around this size in aquaria. I don't believe this factors in massive aquariums like zoos and public aquariums have.
