Cherry Shrimp Breeding Advice!
Hello everyone,
3 days ago I decided to use my 8 gallon Fluval ebi tank to attempt breeding cherry shrimp.
Before it was a fry tank for exotic guppies, (Still 14-16 in there, very small), It had a lot of cases of snail outbreaks so I have purchased a poke-a-dotted loach to try and get rid of them. The guy at the store said he would leave the fry and shrimp alone.
I know shrimp can't feel threatened if you want them to breed, and mine walk all over the rocks and java moss. I have 6 by the way (maximize my chance of having a male and female)
Will my shrimp breed with the loach in the tank?

The loach will probably eat them.

No, he is a small little guy as of right now, maybe only 2 inches, the shrimp are way too big for him!

Then, I guess you will try it? Shrimp as fast as heck, too. And good jumpers. Give them moss or something to hide in and you will see babies soon enough, I suspect.

I have a fluval ebi and I keep trying to eradicate it of cherry shrimp lol
I keep thinking I've got rid of them all then weeks later I see one, then two then nearly a dozen again!!!
I've bred and sold over 300 cherry shrimp (not just in the ebi) in the last 18 months and can assure you, cherrys will survive anything bar an ambitious betta!
Tempted to swap my platys and betta over for a few weeks to clear the tank out lmao
ChrisUsed to try and keep track of my fish here.....

Cherry shrimp always breed. Thing is, how much shrimplets will that loach eat and that depends on the amount of cover in the tank.
