  1. Default breeding progress

well, i have moved my first brood of maingano over to the 55 growout. The very first fry that i had was moved to the main tank. He is probably 1" or so. As i fished out a maingano to strip my second brood i noticed a holding flavus, which are new arrivals in my tank so i am very excited to see this. I'll be letting her keep this brood as i dont expect her to do very well with it, and will be on the look out for a second brood. There is also a holding zebra, the male being an OB but i am undecided on whether or not ill strip them for sale. Just thought i'd give yall an update, might be turning this into a journal but it would be a hugely drawn out journal as the progress is slow, but sure.
Finally reached 6 tanks... oh god, this addiction is getting serious. 75g mbuna tank, 65g gold severum, 55g OB peacock breeding colony, 30g(36x18) growout, 20 long Dwarf Alto's, 10g fry tank.
If I die young bury me in... An 8x2x2 with versa tops and a large sump for adequate filtration;)

Those are some very nice baby fish and great color as well. I only wish I could breed some other fish instead of the electric yellows. I like your tanks. You have some healthy looking fish.

    thank you junkers:)
also, some more news from the main tank. As of today i have 1 holding zebra, 1 holding Elongatus (Chewere), and 1(maybe even 2) holding Flavus!!! so stoked about that, really glad to see my 2 newest species settling in so well. If you watched them you wouldnt even know that they hadnt been in there their entire lives.

That is cool. My fish have seemed to stop breeding for some reason. My water quality is good and the fish are feed good and the temperature is good.
Good luck with the other fishies and their babys.

after my first batch of mainganos it took a while for the breeding to start up again. I did the simulated rainstorm trick where i did a water change during a storm and put colder water into the tank and after that, well, you see the results. im hoping my mama maingano spits in the next few days, ive had terrible luck trying to strip her.

SUCCESS! i have stripped my second batch of maingano fry, they are too skittish to count at the moment but it looks like a fairly small brood id estimate around 15 but like i said im not sure. 50% WC in the fry tank tonight, 25% on the main tank and growout tanks.

  10. Default Some Changes!

Today i purchased a 30 breeder to use as my growout tank. I did this because i am starting a breeding colony of OB peacocks. I've already set the tank up with rocks, substrate and an 80 gallon sponge filter and I'm filling it up now:) all its missing is the lid and the light.
