  1. Default OK CENTERPIECE IS **drumroll**

    New gourami

    NEw light

    new pennywort.

So im hoping the penny wort i threw in my tank will multiply to give some shade so the new pearl gourami has some shade from the bright light i have introduced. Right now and its probably because its also a new tank when the light goes on he runs to the corner.......so im hoping in the next few months that he gets some shade, and maybe he will fit in that log........

I am super excited ill be waiting till next weekend before i add the 3 female and 1 male cherry barb. I also bought Frozen brine shrimp as treats. We will see how everything goes. Im hoping with the new light my wisteria will grow more and bush out. and the crypt and java fern will grow. The light has 1 10,000k bulb and 1 blueish bulb. the freshwater version had a 6500k and a red tinted bulb so. We will see i dont see having the blue bulb as an issue Includes one 10,000K and one 420/460nm T5 HO bulb for a total of 48 watts. So if anyone else has suggestions for plants or anything to spruce up my tank let me know cause im not good at invisioning and i have about 1.65 Watts per gallon now

Congratulations on your new addition! He/she is very cute. :) He'll become more bold after he's been in there a few days and settled.

A good plant to try is Ambulia (or Cabomba if you can't find it). It is attractive and grows like crazy, and sucks up Nitrate like nothing else.

Its a HE. YEah it was tough They had
    Panda apisto
    Bolivian Rams
Dwarf blue gouramis and the pearl.

I kept running between the four tanks and i finally went I LOve the bolivian Ram but i was nervous of it being too finicky for my water so I went with the pearl. ITs a very pretty fish.

As far as plants ill check it out i was hoping to find a root floater as every picture i see looks amazing..........If i plant this tank heavy will that mean water changes will pretty much be to top off the tank as plants eat ammonia and nitrate???

    Ill check out the Ambulia

You'll still need to do water changes because even if there is low nitrate, the water still gets "stale" if you know what I mean... It's nicer for the fish if they have nice fresh water.

But in a way, yes. If it is heavily planted the plants will suck up a lot of the Nitrate as fertilizer. I think it is also nicer for the fish. They like the real plants to hide behind and pick at. Like I said, you'll still have to do weekly water changes for the health of your tank.

Now that my tank has so many live plants I never get a nitrate reading above 20 ppm, even once when I let it sit for 2 weeks, but I still do 30% weekly water changes. (Except that one time of course when I got super busy)

Congratulations on your centerpiece fish! He looks really cool.

Nice gourami. A nice fixture, but wrong lights. You need to change the actinic into a full spectrum bulb (65-6700k) if you want to grow that plant you have.
Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL

Learn to give and take. That's how things should always work.

yeah the fixture was the cheapest....i like how it looks right now i think ill eventually pull out the blue bulb and replace it with a 6.5k
