I think LH keeps Blood parrots not severums lol

My sevs are anything but placid. The big green male is a royal terror and even tries to pick on my oscar. The slightly smaller gold male attempts an uprising every other day or so.

Lol well I like any cichlid I guess it depends on the fish. My main complaint is just how slow they grow, I tried to raise a juvie once and at the rate it was growing I would have been middle aged by the time it was a big fish lol.

With LH I was thinking of this thread

Btw that thread was kinda left open ended did you ever get your sev LH?

Here is how I see this.

No you will not be able to keep a mated pair of Firemouths in a 48. The male will kill the female.

If you buy 4 to 6 firemouths you will have carnage and over crowding on the way to this pair that is destined to become a problem in their own right, you will need to rehome 4 firemouths.

Severums get way too large to keep a pair in a 48 gallon and possibly too large to keep just one in a 48. The majestic appeal of a Severum is lost as it gets over 10 inches long and 5 inches tall and 3 inches thick in a 48.

If you like the solitary firemouth you have rehome the severum and just leave the single fire mouth in the 48 with the dither species. Life will be better for you the fish and all involved.

I have done plenty of research and asked all the questions. You maybe caught the wrong end of the stick, 6 firemouths will gie me 1 pair and I will rehome the other 4 after I get a pair
    My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

And besides, the severum is already gone as well as the other firemouth.

I have never seen any actual fighting with firemouths at all. And certainly not with their mate. They like to act like bullies and spar with each other but I've never even seen one lip lock. They're no meaner to their mate than angels are. dear, I do not want to punch you in the face. LOLOL I just want a severum! LOL

This is my firemouth "fighting". They never touched each other. Just flared their throat and acted tough.

You must have bought El Diablo's personal angels. I never have all of this aggression.

The more I share information with the people on here, the more apparent it becomes to me that SA/CA cichlid personalities can be anywhere from mild to aggressive between individuals of the same species.
