Another power outage. This time 13 hours
Another old lady blasted into another tree in town. If these old people aren't taken off the road soon there will be no more trees left in this town. Third time this summer. I kept looking for trees growing in the road and haven't seen one yet.
After six hours I did a water change and held the hose up good and high to get some oxygen in the tank. About ready to do another and here comes the power.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Thank goodness it wasn't in the middle of Michagan's winter when the power was off for 13 hours.

Maybe they need to wrap all the trees in high density foam

Crack.....Maybe they need to stop giving these old farts driving licenses. I've seen them walk to their cars and can't even see it until they are on top of it so how can they possibly see a tree? LOL
Dave........MI winters and power outages worry me more than anything with fish tanks. The year before I moved into this apartment, the whole area was without power for 3 days. One main central heating source so a generator would do no good, either.
Worst outage since I've been here was the 21 hours last year that was bad enough. I have 3 battery operated laterns but 2 were down by 10 PM leaving me one small light to change out the water with. Fish were spooked big time with me messing around in the dark.......especially the Dollars who go nuts when they can see. Those guys even get a night light generally.
Sure is bloody boring sitting around in the dark. I took a sleeping pill so I could sleep thru it. :)Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Over here, once Dad turned 60 he used to have to have an eye test every few years for his truck liscence, but as far as I know this does not apply to a regular car liscence, I reckon it should apply to both.

Sorry to hear it hobbs. Once this year the power went out every day for a week at different times, it got really annoying. It's because a stupid squirrel chewed through the line lol.

A squirrel chewed through a line at my school, fell down on the roof dead, caught on fire, melted the plastic case for the generator.
How are you on the net with no power?Money can't buy happiness, but it sure can pay the rent.

The lady that hit the tree lives right here in this complex. She has a bad heart and is in very poor shape normally. Licenses being renewed every 7 years is a bit too much once people reach a certain age, I think. After 70 they should come up for renewal every 2 or 3 years.
A story I heard in FL told to me by someone who witnessed this: Guy goes into the licensing bureau with his seeing eye dog. Gets his license renewed and goes out and gets in his car. For crying out loud. If you have a seeing eye dog, why do you have a drivers license.
The lady that hit the tree here knocked the tree into the power pole which dropped hot wires on her car igniting the car. Some passerbye pulled her out. She's lucky.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Ok a few questions....is 13 hours really that long to go without a filter for and need to do a WC in your tank?
And second, most water is pumped by a pump which in deed needs electricity.....so if the power is out how did you get water?
