    I'm curious how old is this daughter you are getting into fish keeping for? And are you aware of how long fish should live with proper care (Think 5 to 10 years)?

    If she's old enough, then I'd encourage you to have her be the driver so to speak with the tank. Have her learn by doing the research on how to set up, what fish she should get, how to do the regular maint, etc.
