Black tetras eating each other!
I am new to fish keeping and got 5 black widow tetras in a 60 litre tank. I have had them for a few weeks now and am down to 3! I haven't found any dead so have come to the conclusion that the fish must be eating each other? Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks :) Jess

almost every fish will eat a dead fish. However, I don't see 3 or 4 tetras completely devouring 1 or 2 dead ones before you even notice any have died, assuming you're not only checking the tank once a week or something. It's a lot more likely you'd find them picking at a slightly decomposed but very much still intact dead fish for a couple days before they actually ate so much that you couldn't find the remains.
Is the tank covered? Have you looked around the outside of the tank for a fish that has jumped out? Do you have cats or dogs?
Any decorations, caves, etc that a live or dead fish could get trapped inside of and escape your inspection?300 gallon mega tank: sailfin pleco, clown loaches, silver dollars, roseline sharks, congo tetras, new world cichlids
