Thread: Plant Help!

  1. Default Plant Help!

I'm having a hard time keeping my anacharis and water wisteria planted in my gravel. Every day and sometimes more than once a day I have to try to get them back into the gravel and I pile some up around it to try to keep it down. Is there a good way to anchor them? Also, is there a good way to stick them into the gravel without reaching my entire arm in? Some kind of tool or something? I'm kind of getting tired of reaching all the way in everytime.

Arrow Be happy it is not a 24" deep 90g - THAT is a pain lol :-P

Plant them a bit deeper and/or make a pile around the base or you could buy actual plant anchors if need be.

Any LFS will should have a small section of tools for purchase but I can tell you that wet arms [And sleeves lol] really does come with the territory in this hobby. You may find eventually that your hand really is the best tool for the job, It works for me.

It is not a dry hobby.

ok, i thought I had them about as deep as I could but I'll try to get it even deeper. I have a larger gravel substrate. Would that be part of the problem?

Not especially, Stem plants are a bit of a pain anyway IMO/IME. Just get it to stay there and then leave it alone lol.

Expect to get lots of practice as they get dislodged easily until rooted as you are already aware.

    Good luck
