  1. Default New here...have a few questions about stocking my tank.

I am planning on getting a 10gal aquarium. I know it will be a while before I can get fish but I'm trying to figure out who would live well together.

    I was thinking about:
    3 American Flagfish
    4 Endlers
    2 Sparkling Gourami
    1 mystery snail

I keep getting conflicting thoughts on the American Flagfish. (doesn't do well with others, should only have 1 ect.) Also should I get all males for all of the fish? I don't want to end up with too many fish.

I want to have several differnt species but I know the tank is small so I might be limited on what I can get.

I would like the tank to have top, middle, and bottom swimmers.

I definitely don't want it to be overstocked, or end up with fish that don't get along, so I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

I am sure you can fit 4 endlers and 1 snail in that tank. though, endlers can multiply really fast if you have mixed genders.

Usually, multiple gouramis is not recommended in the same tank. But I am not sure about sparkling gouramis. Best bet, only put one, or put one dwarf gourami instead.

Flagfish should be fine if you're only getting one because they are somewhat territorial. And I am not sure about having a flagfish and gourami together.

I would not do the flags. Theyget quite large. And can be a bit picky with other fish.

The sparkerlings would do great in a group of 5 or 6. They arnt like a lot of other types of gouramis which can get aggressive and territoral.
Make sure that the tank is very well planted and regulare water changes.
And expect them to make some grunting noises.

Thanks. Maybe I won't do the Flagfish. Would the Sparkling Gourami and the Endlers do well together? Is that enough for a 10gal tank or should I add something else.

good decision to not get the flagfish.
As beautiful and good at eating algae as they are, in your tank, they probably would
eat the endler's, amputate the snail's feelers, kill the sparklers and then, since they are 3 large-ish fish in a 10 gallon, turn on each other.
