Thanks you guys! I'm very happy myself. I may start a journal on it in an appropriate section of the site. ;)

Wow guys! It's been a LONG time!
So we moved back in December, and I didn't lose one fish! I just about died when myhusband and I had to carry the 55g in the house. We left all the sand and driftwood in, as well as 2 inches of water with the fish. NOT something I want to repeat.
I've had a BIG blue green algae outbreak, but it's not back to normal and under control.
I lost two neons, and I'm pretty sure it was my fault for not watching the water temp closely during a W/C (never happen again).
SO... I know that most of you will think I'm crazy.... but.... very soon I'll be adding Discus. Probably 1 a week or every other week until I get the right amount.
Deep breaths-- I think I can, I think I can. I'll let you all know how that goes. Pics to come!

I wish you the best luck with your Discus. Your a braver person than me. One fish I've never attempted to try and I kept Marine fish in the 80's.
There are a few realy knowledgeable members here that will be able to steer you in the right direction from what I've seen them say.
Glad your fish survived the move and glad to see you back on the forum.

I wish you the best of luck but if I may interject... If you get your first one, and see how they do... wait and save for a small group of 5 total. 5+ gets to where you want to be but when you get the 2nd you will see the cichlid affect... they will establish a pecking order, then when you get a 3rd one will be odd man out. 4 is ok I found in the past, generally they go 2 and 2 but 5 creates the best diversionary stocking for the group. Also when adding fish, if you just put one in you will be more prone to infections and issues because the group will already have a pecking order.

Okay, so 1, and then at least 3 to make sure everyone gets along. Thank you for telling me that!

Welcome back, Mandy!$@ I was just thinking about you the other day. I knew you were moving and wondering how things were coming along.
I'm glad to see your tank and fish made the move ok. I'm telling you, BG Algae Remover will get rid of that stuff for good and you won't have to deal with it anymore. Try it!
Your tank's still looking fantastic. I think it's awesome that you're going to try Discus. Why not, right? They're absolutely beautiful fish. There's a guy on here by the sn "mojosodope" who's currently keeping Discus, so he might be able to help you along the way. His tank is looking great, too.
Best of luck! Can't wait to see them.
PS - How's the new house coming along?

Hey Kevin! Nice to hear from you :)
I've totally been neglecting the forum since we moved.
The house is great! We have our chickens, pony, ferret, cats, dogs, and fish all settled in. We're looking into getting some goats and cattle in the future.
As for the Discus, I've done lots of research on these guys and I'm pretty sure I will be successul with them. I don't have any compatibility issues with my other fish, I'm just prepping myself for lots of water changes.
Thanks so much for the compliments on the tank! It's actually in need of a cleaning. My filters are a little grimy, so I'll be taking care of those soon. I'm gonna go check your thread in a bit to see what I've been missing. :)

+ 1 to Kevin for mentioning "mojosodope". The guy seems to realy know what he's doing.
"MCHRKiller" also has alot of great information.
