Not even a long process. My mollys went from fw at the lfs,in 3 hrs they were drip acc to bw,over a period of 2 weeks went to full salt and were drip acc back to fw in less the 3 hrs. I still have them a year later. They can actually be dip acc from fw to full sw in about 3 hrs.

The question isn't so silly when some manufacturers are trying to promote the idea.
A couple of decades back there were products named Magic Ocean or Wonder Water, that allowed fresh water and saltwater fish to be in the same tank. The current iteration is Gex Magic Powder. Shown below.
A diagonal divider works wonders for your eyes.

So, the proper answer is, yes, but...
