Not even a long process. My mollys went from fw at the lfs,in 3 hrs they were drip acc to bw,over a period of 2 weeks went to full salt and were drip acc back to fw in less the 3 hrs. I still have them a year later. They can actually be dip acc from fw to full sw in about 3 hrs.

Converting Mollies to Brackish and SW is not really that long at all. In the wild, when they swim from the river to the ocean they probably get even less time than that. They are highly adaptable.

The question isn't so silly when some manufacturers are trying to promote the idea.
A couple of decades back there were products named Magic Ocean or Wonder Water, that allowed fresh water and saltwater fish to be in the same tank. The current iteration is Gex Magic Powder. Shown below.

So, the proper answer is, yes, but...
Some species can live together but neither will thrive, and you can't mix the ones you really want to mix.

wow Smaug and GB, I was told it was a very long process. Good to know even if I will never end up doing that
