And here I thought I was the only one! Drives me nuts, and my family and I have decided that those that printed it misprinted the colors for fun and giggles. The colors for 10 and 20 are exactly the same.

I am a digital artist by trade, so I used my program to touch sample test the colors for those, and indeed, they are exactly the same color! Until I did that I thought I was going color blind!

As Lady Hobbs said, it can be hard for some people to tell certain colors apart. I usually have trouble with the first two colors on the ammonia test kits. I have to ask my wife to look at the test colors and test tube for me.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

  3. Default API Nitrate test

Thank you, CrunchyLeaf! I, too, drive myself nuts trying to tell the difference between 10/20 & 40/80. Has anyone ever complained to API? I have saved the website, but I wonder if they even realize the cards are misprinted. I log my test results and until now I have had no choice but to log 10/20 (meaning somewhere between 10 & 20?) and assume my results are on the high side (same with 40/80)...anyway, it means a w/c is in order : )

i have that prob with ammonia too. They all look that second color to me, but to my mom it looks perfectly yellow. Frustrating. I wish they were all like the gH and kH kits, where certain number of drops before drastic color change tells you how much is in there.

Does it sound like over feeding could be the cause of my nitrate rise
