BIG problem
So I went to a not so LFS today to trade in some plants. While there I fell in love with a fish. The owner of the store said that I could have this $15 fish for the plants (MAYBE $5-$10 worth). Needless to say I took the deal. When I got home my parents told me that we are leaving for vacation NEXT saturday and will be gone for 9-10 days. What should I do? Should I QT the fish for most of the week and then add it to the main tank? Should I leave it in QT while gone? Should I just add it to the main tank right away?? I can not return the fish. I knew that I was going on vacation this month, I just did not realize that it was NEXT weekend. I will have someone come and check on the fish every few days to top off the water and feed the fish. ADVICE NEEDED!!!!!

It's usally a good idea to QT fish for 3 weeks or so, so I would suggest putting him in your QT tank provided you have a cycled filter for it. As you have some one taking care fo the fish, I would thik that would be OK
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I actually do not have a cycled filter to put on the tank. The last fish in the QT tank were really sick and died while I was gone for about 5 days, so there was a dead fish in the tank for a while. I let the filter dry up.
I just had a thought. I have 2 home made sponge filters on my 20g betta tank along with 2 TINY filters. The sponge filters are each 1/2 of an AC70 sponge. The QT tank is 10g and the new fish is pretty big (biggest fish I own)Lots of tanks. Some tanks are planted. Fish include community and bettas.

Kind of an aside but what kind of fish is he?

An Angel Fish. I know that the people here told me that it would probably not be a good idea, BUT... I talked to the owners of my LFS that specialize in chichlids. They said that since it is a DWARF gourami that it would probably work out. I have another tank that I can move the fish to if need be.

Have the sponge filters been on the betta tank for a while?
If so just use one of them on the QT150g Malawi + Cuckoo cats

Sorry, but did I miss something? This is confusing. Is it an Angel fish or a Dwarf Gourami?

Angelfish.
I think she was referring to the fact that she has a DG in her tank and something about angel-gourami aggression. Its Phillip, not Origami.
