Normal polka dot loch behavior??
0
I have a polka dot loach in my tank, botia kubotai, and lately he's been swimming up and down the side of the tank for a long time, day after day. Is this normal loach behavior, or should I be worried?

Well they love being in groups. He very well could be seeing his reflection in the glass.

You only have 1 (question mark)
I now have a question mark key, a slash, and a left arrow. I still don't have patience.

Yes, I only have one, and after doing some research that seems to be the problem. However, how many should I keep in a group?

I'd recommend no less then six.
Some will disagree, most will agree.

Six 5 inch fish in a 29 gallon? Would three more work? The website I just visited said that it should be kept in a minimum group of 3 ( shoulda seen that before T-T) I just don't think I can do 5 more in my already pretty stocked 29 gallon....... I guess I can always rehome the guy.......

I was just meaning that's how I'd keep them, not necessarily that you should add more.
6 will be fine in 29g, depending on your other stock.
If you truly want to keep him, get at least 2 more.
Not only are they very playful with their own kind, they often rest in tight groups for security and comfort.

Okay, thanks for your advice, deadsulphurhead! I really like the one I have so I think I'll get three more, and that'll finish off my stock. I already have 8 other fish in there, so six seems a little much. But thank you!
