Plant only tank

I have a 70 gallon that I don't have filters for and I want to set it up as a plant only tank. I will be moving at anytime as my house is for sale so I also don't want fish in it because of this .

I'm just wondering if I set it up, without fish.. Do I need filters or a form of filtration? I have lights and a heater just not the filter part .. I wanted to tank my time with the tank anyway so it's set up 100% how I want it. Part of how I want it is densely planted so could I make this work?

I think you definitely could make this work if there are no fish present. I think it would be cool a whole tank devoted to plants.

With enough lights it might work. But you have to supplement the plants the nitrogen they need, which they get from either ammonia, nitrite or nitrates from the cycle.

Shrimps and/or snails will work as substitute for fish. They will look great IMO, plus you can have 150+ shrimps in there, which will be awesome.

You also need some kind of water circulator so that the water does not get stagnant. Not necessarily high output, but just enough to make water movement in the tank.

Thanks for the motivation! I'm going to give it a shot and try adding shrimp.
