Thread: Juwel Pumps?

    Default Juwel Pumps?

I recently bought a second-hand Juwel Rekord 600 (about 17g), which had a fried pump on the internal filter. I don't use the internal filter on my Rio 240 so I decided to see if the pump from that fits into the pump slot in the Rekord 600 -- it does.

Any particular reason I shouldn't use this pump? The original Rekord pump is rated to 280lph (74gph) and the Rio pump is rated to 1000lph (264gph). Will this be too much movement?

Too much depends on what you keep in it. That pump comes in three sizes, your rekord has the smallest, your rio the biggest. So If you can live with the water movement and it doesn't go over the edge you're fine.

Thanks for the reply dutchie -- you are my main source of experience with Juwel tanks!

The impeller in the Rekord pump is much tinier than the Rio impeller, it has smaller "arms"/blades while the Rio impeller is really heavy duty looking with big thick blades. I am wondering if putting the smaller rekord impeller on the Rio pump will slow the flow a little. It slots into the Rio pump just fine.

Not surprising since 85% of the audience here is American and Juwel isn't on the American market.

You can try what happens with the impeller. Run it for an hour and then check if everythings' ok.
