Red Brush Algae eaters?
I suddenly have an outbreak of red brush algae in my tank and it looks horrible! I was thinking of getting some shrimp to help get rid of it. I know Amano shrimp eat it but do cherry shrimp?
Also I have a pakistani loach, would he eat them (I am asking as I am thinking of giving him to a friend with other loaches so he has some friends and this may sway my decision!)
Thanks
Emz

Is the pakistani loach Botia modesta (that's off top of my head incase spellings wrong) blue with orange fins? They should be kept in social groups and can be aggressive, so a shrimp probably wouldn't last long unfortunately.
My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

Pakistani loach is a yoyo loach- I think its B. almorhae(spelling?).
Its Phillip, not Origami.

Youre better off attacking the source of the algae...which is phosphate levels. Seachem makes several excellent products in dealing with phosphate. Florida Flagfish are one of the very few that will really put much of a dent in this stuff IME...

sorry yes, pakistani and yoyo are the same.
Thanks for your replies. 'Mr Pakistani Loach' used to be the same size as my cories and so was happy playing with them. He has rather outgrown them now and is becoming more aggressive/ a nuisance with the other fish. THis is why I will give him away so he has company.
So Just to clarify: if i re home my loach, would a few shrimp help clean up the algae. would Amano or cherry do the best job?
MCHRkiller, I will also have a look at these products.
Thanks

Improper lighting in the actinic range is also a contributor as well as high iron content.
