Thread: Plant only tank

  1. Default Plant only tank

Hey guys, wondering if anyone here has ever had experience with a plant only tank? I have a spare 29 gal and a spare 37 gal. I have a t5 ho fixture with 65K bulbs that fits nicely on both tanks. ( tanks have the same footprint, but 37 gal is taller obviously ). maybe in the future would add some small fish or shrimp, but was thinking of having something to mature young plants in. Like a grow out tank i guess? Then possibly transplant in another tank or give away to fellow tankers. would probably start with diy co2 because the light is 96 watts, cant afford another pressurized system at the moment. or if it would work, i can run just two of the bulbs at 48 watts, but that seems like low light for a planted tank. do i need any filtration? i have plenty of sponge filters and extra pumps/powerheads. would the 29 gal be better than the 37 gal for this purpose? sorry im rambling , any ideas would be great!!!!

Unfortunately I cannot help you so my post is basically useless but I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with my 70 gal and because I don't have a filter for it yet . So I was just going to get some plants and Grow them out so eventually it was densely planted ad could add fish later. I'm sorry again but I like your thinkin !
