I tore my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) on March 31st playing a club baseball game for my college and I just had surgery this morning (at 7:30, I'm not even up by then!). I'm currently lying on the couch and I remembered this morning that before my surgery, they gave me a folder and inside it was a little card that I could use to contact my donor family and thank them for their donation. Here's what I have so far, tell me if I'm forgetting anything/grammatical errors/something doesn't fit. Basically, open criticism

Dear Donor Family,

I am writing you to let you know of my gratitude to you and your loved one, who have helped lives such as mine through the gift of tissue donation. Yours is among those compassionate families who have made the decision to help others during your time of grief. Please know that I am very sorry for your loss. I wanted to tell you a little about the reason why I needed this gift.

With this donated tissue, I was able to have my ACL reconstructed at the age of nineteen. I tore my ACL when running through first base during a club baseball game for my college and I thought my career was over. Baseball is big part of my life and I didn’t want to stop a sixteen-year streak because of an injury. Whenever it ends, I want it to end on my terms and not because of an injury. With your donated tissue, I’ll be able to run in November and play one more season before I decide to stop playing.

It may seem like a small thing, the gift of donated tissue, but this gift has made a difference to me by giving me hope for the future. I’m currently dating a girl whose name is Hope and we always tell each other, “Have Hope” whenever something bad happens. When the doctor told me I tore my ACL, I wanted to break down in my kitchen and cry. I’ve always been about the small things in life and something as small as a four-inch tendon brought me all the hope in the world.

I just wanted to send you this letter, stranger to stranger, to let you and your family know that I am extremely appreciative of what you all have done for me. Thank you for giving me the ability to run again.

I will always remember your generosity.

Thanks y'all! I had my mom proofread it for me and she said it was good to go so I sent it to them. I'm hoping it comforts them because it means a lot to me that someone was willing to give up their body for other people that need it.

Thanks gentleman! I managed to do a water change on my 55g and my 29g yesterday so my siblings won't have to do it... now this gives me reason to get a python/aqueon water changer
