    Default Fish Food?

Just out of curiousity, I was wondering what people's favourite/go-to all-round basic tropical food/flake was? Eg. JEBO, Nutrafin, Tetra, etc, and why?

Also what are some other fish foods you'd recommend or NOT recommend?

I have been tropical fishkeeping (finally moving on from goldfish!) since January this year, and have already found a couple of foods which work for me, and some that my fish seem to HATE. Would really love to hear other people's experiences. :)

I feed Kens, NLS and Hikari supplemented with some home raised live feeders and fresh veggies.

BTW - Here is a thread that may interest you.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

I feed Ken's flakes and catfish pellets, Hikari algae tablets, Hikari micro wafers for new fish and frozen bloodworms/brine shrimp for treats.

New Life Spectrum. I just think it is the most well-rounded food out there and I have had good results. Hikari though is also a great brand. This can be a sort of Chevy vs. Ford discussion though, it really comes down to personal preference and availability.
    8 tanks running now:
    1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

I feed New Life Spectrum and food from Pellets are superior to flakes. Flakes leach out their nutrients within a minute of being in the water. Pellets last much longer in the water.

Wow. I've never heard of any of those brands, haha. That's interesting about flakes losing their nutrients after they've been in the water. I feed sinking pellets for my loaches and plecos. I got the algae wafers for the plecos but they turned their noses up at them and went and stole the loaches shrimp pellets instead. I also give everyone bloodworms once or twice a week.

Thanks for that thread, very useful. It seems that hikari is a lot of people's favorites. I wonder if that's available here...

Tetramin for me, been using that since my first tank over 20 years ago. Decent stuff with the added bonus that I know I'm overfeeding when they don't take the red flakes.

Supplement that as needed with treats, my Hengeli love peas and everyone likes a freshly hatched mosquito larvae but that's a seasonal treat over here.
