Need Stocking Ideas
Hello everyone! So I successfully upgraded my 5-gallon tank to a fully cycled 15-gallon one. My three Neon Tetras seem to be happy with some new friends and more swimming room. I now have two male Dalmatian Mollies, two male Yellow Mollies and five Neon Tetras. I have a long 15-gallon tank, so I was wondering what else I could add. I'd prefer to add a different fish if I can. Thanks for all the help! :D
And if anyone has any ideas regarding decorations for my aquarium, please let me know!

Mollies can be very meddy fish so I would suggest you make sure you've got good filtration and keep up on those water changes.
I don't think you've got enough room for another species, I would however suggest getting your neon tetra school upto 10+My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

Agreed. That tank is really too small for any more fish, save a couple more neons. I have to say, I only had 6 neons for a while and after upping the school to 15+, they look so much brighter and more active and interesting.
EDIT: 100th post woooh!

My current tank:
2 Dalmatian male mollies
1 Balloon molly
3 Emerald Cory Cat Fish
5 Neon Tetras
AqAdvisor says my stocking level is about 90%. Can I add more Neon Tetras or will my tank be overstocked?
And my 2 Dalmatians chase around the lone male balloon molly. Is that a problem?
Oh, and my parameters are 0-0-25. My pH is 7.3 and water temp is 78 'F. All my fish seem very happy, all are eating normally and swimming a lot! They seem to enjoy when the light is off more.

emerald cories are the biggest cories you can get, so i am not really recommending keeping them in your tank size. Not to mention they are schooling specie too, so you need a minimum of 6 for a school, 15G's footprint just doesn't provide space for that.
are you sure the balloon molly is a male?
i advise getting the cories back and maybe adding 3 more neons if you want and call it a day.Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL

Wow talk about bad move on the cories, yeah as Paul said (why have dave in your name and still want to be called paul? ;-) ) rehome them ASAP, I would also rehome the balloon molly, then up your neons to 10;

Your nitrAtes are high - get below 20 ppm and aim for under 10 ppm. You need either bigger or more freq. water changes. Without knowing your filters, not sure how many extra neons your tank can handle but neons prefer nitrAtes under 5 ppm. Neons need dark areas and prefer low light - also, they do need to be a bigger school and they will show more if they are increased. Most corys are schooling so ditto on pjaldave's advice.

Knowledge is fun(damental)
A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell

Whenever fish chase each other, it could be a problem if they are not known for chasing each other (like danios do) - this could stress the single fish out & bring on illness.

Oh wow, thanks guys. Okay so water change was successful and my nitrAtes are about 10 ppm. I am returning the balloon Molly and the emerald cory cats today. I am gettin Neons instead. Do you think I can up my neon count to 15?
So final:
15 neons - all are under half inch
2 Dalmatian mollies
In cycled 15 gallon long? I have an Aqueon Quiet Whisper 20. AqAdvispr says it would be ok for the mollies and 15 neons.
And do you guys think a tank of 2 mollies and neons would be cool? I want a fun and active tank. I'm just new and trying to give them a nice healthy home. :)Last edited by Kezuki; 05-10-2012 at 04:22 PM.

No, 15 neons is kinda pushing the limit. If there were only neons, it might be possible, but you have those mollies.
Oh and Scotti, my username is bits and pieces of my real name. P stand for Paul
