guppy question
yesterday i got 1 male and 1 female guppy from PS when i put her in the tank she had a little light black spot behind her stomach what is that? my female swordtails have this too. sorry if this sounds stupid im still fairly new with fish and never had a female livebearer before

That could mean that you could have quite a few little Guppies and Swordies on their way!
A classic sign of having pregnant Swordies and Guppies is what you call a gravid spot, which sounds like what you're describing.

8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

Nice you bought 2 and now in a week or so you have 20 or more.
You might want to get a breeding net to put her in to have her babies in then put the mom back in the tank when shes done birthing so she doesnt eat the babies(fry).

I have two guppy tanks and I have not noticed the mother to eat an appreciable number of fry. I have more than I know what to do with and I think you will too!

congrats ive had mothers give birth to anywhere between 20 and 80 fry
