changing filter cartridge to foam?
i am changing filter cartridge to foam... how do i get some of the beneficial bacteria from my old cartridge to the foam and also if u guys have any tips on what to do it would be appreciated
20 gallon- platies, dalmation mollies, cory cats, red belly x ray tetras,gourami, african dwarf frog

Would help a lot to know what filter you have; my best guess is that there is a fibrous material and it is heavily stained - this would then be your good bacteria. Place this in your new filter with the form
If you do not have room for it, then use a section of it and then rinse the old filter material into the tank water - this wil lfurther seed the new foam.

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell
