My personal preference is Aquarian flake, when I can justify a 5# bucket. It isn't stocked in the smaller containers by many places in the US, lately.

When I need to purchase other foods, or need just a couple pounds, I use Ken's Fish Tropical flake.

For the past few months it's been NLS pellets with some blood worms or brine shrimp as treats
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Lately, been using Tetra Bettamin for all fish. Treating with freeze dried tetra blood worms, and have New Life Spectrum Cichild pellets on backup.

Right now I am using tetra flakes as staples. When I get low I will probably order from kens and pop it in the freezer for freshness.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
