I had something like that growing in the corner of one of my tanks during cycling! But I put some snails in and they ate it.

Your cycle is right on time and it will most likely finish up for you within a few days. You are looking at a totally perfect cycle going on.

So I ever so gently removed the large rock with the gunk on it, and blech! it smelled like a tideflat. So I decided to repurpose the rock as a decoration for my herb garden. The thyme will love it, I'm sure.
Anyways, thank you all for your advice. I'm sure I'll have more questions soon. On with the cycle!
