Heater Help

I am thinking about purchasing a new 50 gal but the cost of the Aqueon Pro heater for that alone is hefty... so I'm wondering if I can't just combine a 50 w pro heater from my 10 gal and a 100 w pro heater from my 20 gal. Would using both of those in one 50 gal tank safely work?

Depending on the temp in your house, a 150 watts may or may not be enough; however, using two slightly smaller heaters is always better than one larger heater. In the event of a heater failure, the other heater will hold enough temp to keep the fish unharmed until you can get a replacement.

Good to know! I need to heat the tank no more than 10 d f at most so I'm thinking the two heater set up might work after all. Thanks!

Amazon has the fluval m heater for about $20 depending on the watt. I have 2 of these and have no issue.

First, do you need a heater at all?
Much of California doesn't.
During the day, wild water warms and cools at night. Fish can handle a range of temperatures. It's extremes that usually cause issues.
