Got the test kit.
My results:

So I'll wait a day for trite to drop, and shall do a 90%w/c...twice.
My pH is difficult to tell but looks right around 7.4. It's still cycling and pH is in flux. Will post with results of tap pH(note: not chlorinated)...
Tap pH=6.9-7.0 or so. Ideal.Last edited by PhillipOrigami; 05-05-2012 at 05:19 AM.

My nitrites are "in the chart" and you can actually see its below 5ppm.
Tommorrow could be betta day for all you know.
I have not dosed ammonia in a day or 2, but I know that it gets a bit from the decay of plant matter.

sorry for the utterly terrible pic, It didnt look like that on my phone:

Tank looks nice. Though I'm having trouble reading the test results above it. Specifically "Trite". I find while reading, leaving the white part of card behind it makes for an easier comparison. Just need to leave it about 1" away from the tube to compare. Your betta will be a very happy one in there, it looks.

Glad to say nitrites are finally down to +/-1ppm.
those were sort of for show, if you want the readings from that one, they were 0, >5, and >100 respectively :)
I tried it, and I figure it is indeed much more helpful to hold it an inch, thanks... Mark.
I'm going home after school(ugh) and testing. If it shows 0ppm I will do 2 90%ers and go to Local Hardware Store and Local Fish Store.

Close, but no cigar. Or betta.
Added a nice rock to the tank. It balances it IMO.

Yahoo! Nitrites are zero, and bought betta 2 days later-today!
He was bucket-acclimated (i quitted drip when it refused to drip) and was just released. He likes the java fern and the rock around it, thats his resting leaf/rock. I think :)
No pics b/c lights are off, but in 5H i will turn on the lights.
Also dosing Excell, if im not mistaken the plants are greener. Jungle val, ofc is doing spectacular.
I think I will name him Gandalf, I don't want to refer to him as "the betta". He is a brilliant red with a purple sheen. He is veiltail. Its Phillip, not Origami.
