plecos in the news
http://video.foxnews.com/v/160046680...ylist_id=86861
couple things... first, the professor they're interviewing pronounces it "PLEE-CO". I've always thought it was "PLECK-O". Hmm.
Also he claims that they can breath air... I know that's true to varying degrees with a variety of fish but I've never heard that about plecos.300 gallon mega tank: build in progress
75 gallon community tank: tetras, danios, corys, platies, otos, pearl gouramis, bristlenose pleco, assassin snails, red cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp
70 gallon growout tank: clown loaches, sailfin pleco
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish
29 gallon frog tank / 10 gallon tadpole tank: 1 leopard frog, 1 tadpole
10 gallon and 5.5 gallon betta tanks: 1 male betta each, sometimes snails

It is a hard e??? LOL...good thing I don't teach English...

Er...then shouldn't it be Pliecostomus...or pleicostomus...or something like that? No...probably not...
I think I'm mixing Latin with German...and something else entirely...
However, I will not change my pronounciation...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

WAIT! Go up one to 'plecoptera' (now there's one I do know...and love...)...in this case he says both 'plee-coptera' OR 'pleck-optera'
I assume the same will then go for plecostomus...
Because now I'm doing Greek...and it's come to an either/or issue...
Ha...I'm just slow on the uptake...I'll figure it out eventually (er, with help from the smarter people around me)...

It's like the pronunciation of 'either'. Go ahead with that. Lol
Anyways, in the video he has the fish out the water too long. Even the fish can breathe air, he should've known that they aren't supposed to be out of the water for that long.Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL
Learn to give and take. That's how things should always work.

It's his southern Accent causing him to say it that way is my belief. Having lived in Florida I got very used to it, my favorite is still fire, or as they say down south Phaaar...
