Why I dislike ordering on line...
Even though I know to watch out for shipping fees...I thought I was safe with Amazon.
I ordered some CDs (obscure classical music stuff that I can't find locally)...for about $64...and then saw there was $28 S&H and an Import Fees Deposit on the final tally...
Great...
I didn't cancell the order...I still want the CDs...so I'll suck it up. But that's it for ordering from Amazon. No more...

Yup, that's the risk you take ordering from companys outside of Canada. The better companys will process all of the required Canadian Customs documents, but they don't do that for free
Other company's outside of Canada will ship to addresses within Canada stating all required customs documents will the purchaser's responsibility. As Canadian customs do not check every single package shipped to individuals for all of the required paperwork, you can get away with it for a while I would guess. But if your caught, that $28 fee will look like a great deal

You wacky Canadians with your electricity and shipment services provided by elk!
I am actually kind of surprised that Amazon wasn't as clear with shipping on your finalization of cart screen. (They do have Canadian shipping under the help link at the top). I wonder if it makes much of a difference shopping amazon.ca vs amazon.com for you...
I'd write the help and let them know it didn't show and see if there is anything they can do for you... it doesn't hurt to ask.

I order from both Amazon .com and .ca...and from .ca whenever I can.
Its usually pretty easy to get Super Saver Shipping, Rue...did you check the canadian site at all?
They have less stuff than .com, but only as far as big ticket items go. usually cds, dvds, and books etc are the same...
I LOVE online shopping...its saved my christmas butt many a time...

No... I recently ordered some violin music/supplies from an American site and it was $13...so I just wasn't being vigilant enough before I hit the final button, lol...so it's definately my fault...
My other purchase from the US had lower fees as well...
BUT...it's still just annoying...I think these fees are exorbitant...it's only 4 CDs!
Amazon.ca just often doesn't offer the same selection...if they did it wouldn't be an issue to order from them.
...just a warning not to get complacent - like I did...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

I have researched stuff on Amazon, and have found that, with only a few exceptions, they won't take CC orders over the phone. They insist that if I wish to use a credit card, I can ONLY pay online. They insist their site is safe enough to do that. I say no website is 100% safe where a credit card is required.
I feel this is a legitimate concern, and I do expect companies to be understanding about it.
As a result, I've never ordered from them. Plenty of other sites with great stuff that WILL accept phone orders with a CC.
I go where my business is appreciated, and where I feel safe.

mermaid.......the reason to go online when using your credit card is so someone sitting in an office somewhere is not writing it down on a piece of paper. On shopping sites, the account number is encrypted.
I wouldn't rattle off my credit card number to anyone over the phone. That's the last place your card would be "safe".Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••
