    Default Cycle fail?

So I started my 20 gallon back up 3 days ago I added nutrafin cycle to it (if tht even works) anyway I tested for ammonia and I'm getting zero. My pH is 7.8 . I only have two snails but they poop so where is this ammonia ? I feel like nothing is happening .. And I don't have the nitrite or nitrate water tests caz they have been sold out all week. Anyway anybody know what I'm Doing wrong? Or why my cycle hasn't even started?

Your cycle will not start without ammonia and two snails will not produce enough to do anything.

I've been putting fish food in I read that once its rotten ammonia is produced , so has it not rotted yet or should I put actual ammonia in ?

Yes that can work but takes time; if you use ammonia, you must use pure ammonia - Ace Hardware (Austin's brand) carries it. AS the other poster said, read the sticky on fishless cycle. Also, we do not us WTF here.
    Knowledge is fun(damental)

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is down to just two Sterba's Corys. Filters: continuous new water flow; canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber!! Finally, junked the nitrate removal unit from hell.
