Interesting g. Pig
Does anyone know if teddy guinea pigs can be of a rough hair variety? the reason i ask is because i have experience breeding and such and about 3 months ago i asked my LPS manager to order some G.pigs and he told me as soon as one on his breeders had a litter he'd get em and to my astonishment the g. pigs were what the breeder called a trash can litter meaning they were mixed and the stud was UN-known and i picked to pig most appealing to me and he looked like a teddy but when i picked him up his fur was coarse and teddys normally have the softest fur ever so... back to the original question.. Does anyone know if teddy guinea pigs can be of a rough hair variety? or is this some weird fur morph perhaps a mix of fur and skinny pig?

Maybe the dad was an abysinnian? Quick google search says they are rough haired pigs. SO if the aby was mixed with the teddy you could get a rough haired teddy i assume.

The texture of a teddy bear will depend on how kinky the individual strands of hair are. Most I have had were very coarse and had quite curly hair. If the teddy gene isn't strong and they just have a slight wave, it can be pretty smooth feeling.
Abysinnian aren't rough haired, really, they just have whorls in their coat. The actual hair is of normal texture, but may feel a bit rough because you feel the edges of it where on a normal piggy they'd lie flat.
