Started work on New Raccoon habitat
I have started the construction of a new habitat for my raccon this week. Will be a few weeks before I can find the time to finish it but I will keep you guys updated.
Do as I say. Not as I do.

Looks good. What species do you have there? We have the crab eating racoons... they dont get very big

Most common species here is North American raccoon Procyon lotor but we have a number of other close relatives as well including the crab eating raccoon Procyon cancrivorus. I think the species am keeping is the later of the two due to the short hair slender body it has.

Those little guys are very very smart if they are anything like the wild raccoons around here. I swear they can get into and out off anything they want. My uncle had one as a pet a few years back. That raccon was always finding a way out of his cage to go steal some food from the the other animals. Certainly one of the more interesting and entertaining pet he had

here we put out traps and shoot racoons.
they are somewhat of a nuisance here and frequently seen dead on the highways.

Isn't it funny how we love certain animals and not others...
And it seems we don't like the 'smart' ones...maybe we feel threatened?
