  1. Default java fern leaves turning very light green

I'm struggling with my tank lighting and algae on my 29 gallon tank due to recent changes in my tank....new substrate (eco-complete) and T5 HO lighting (6700k). I've been dosing with Excel and adding fertilizer for the last couple weeks and the algae is still there but reducing; however, tonight I noticed my java fern has a few leaves that are turning a really pale light green.

I assume it may need a particular nutrient but don't know which one.

    Any advise is appreciated.

pictures? how often and how much are you dosing your ferts. how many W's is your bulb? also is the algae BGA? BGA is known to really hurt plants that aren't planted in the substrate or floating. BTW what is your java attached to?

I've been adding ferts every two weeks the last two months....ever since I started struggling with this tank/lighting. BTW, the ferts say to only fertilize once/month, I have iron, trace, total, potassium. I've been alternating between trace/total every two weeks.

I just ordered Flourish so that I can try that too.

My algae is bright green and it's been improving since I started adding Excel everyday....which has been about a week.

    Here are some pics....

Sounds like you have alot of excess nutrients in the water column. The ferts are probably contributing to this. Which is why the excel is helping. Unfortunately Algae is better at stealing these away before plants. Keep up the excel to burn help the algae commit suicide.
