Brown spots on Anubias
History:
5-gallon tank. Substrate is gravel + laterite.
79 degrees, readings 0-0-0.
Plants added March 2, in middle of fishless cycling. (Other plants: onion plant, java fern, moss ball. They're all doing fine.)
Anubias is tied to driftwood, but shifted after it was added so both rhizome and roots are exposed. Roots have been growing.
1 betta and 1 mystery snail added 3/18. Both thriving.
No fertilizer added.
Weekly partial water change (1 gallon; 20-25%).
I noticed this morning that the anubias has brown spots on a few leaves.
Comments and advice welcome.

Probably some algae starting. Anubias is a bear for algae and seems to be the first plant that gets nailed. I have found my anubias does best in the dimmest light possible. Mine does great under my crummy old shop light but as soon as it put it in one of my planted tanks with the better lights, away it goes with either BBA or green spot algae.

It was indeed algae. I wiped it off with a brush. The latest development is white fluffy stuff.

I dip my in a mild solution of bleach water. 19 parts water to 1 part bleach for about 30 second. Rinse well. You may have to put it in a darker area of the tank under some taller plants so it gets less light.
