  1. Default Finding a tank stand

    0 Not allowed!
Any recommendations for a tank stand? Brand, etc. We tried one from Petsmart (heavy as all get out and not terribly cheap) and it was poop.

Currently have tanks on heavy duty furniture but redecorating and want to remove the over sized pieces and replace with dedicated tank stands. Thinking something from Marineland??

you could always check craigslist and get a stand for real cheap. or make a home made one for even cheaper, that way you could make it look exactly how you want.
    Coastie-to-be... hopefully.

+1, Craigslist usually has many tank stands on it, at least in my area.

My neighbor made the stand for my 29g. It is AMAZING!!!! (My neighbor is a plumber, but could easily be a carpender). It did not take that long. The benifit of making your own is that you can make it whatever size you want it. I had my neighbor make my stand a couple of inches shorter than normal so that I could reach in the tank eaisier (I am short). My HOMEMADE stand is a work of art.

Another option that I am considering doing if I get a bigger tank is to use cinder blockes and plywood. With that method I am guessing that it would only take a matter of minutes to assemble the stand (stacking cinder blocks, paying a piece of plywood down). You can also to hide the ugly cinder blocks attach velcrow to fabric and then attach it to the plywood for a curtain that hides the stand.
Lots of tanks. Some tanks are planted. Fish include community and bettas.
2 Dachshunds. Angel (Red) and Cookie (Chocolate Dapple).
Shiny Things and Beauty the rabbits.
RIP Princess and Max the Dachshunds, Tiger and Ping Pong the rabbits, and all the fishes from when I was a newbie.

craigslist will have a mixture of homemade and name brand stands im sure. alternatively you can find plans for any size stand on google, and modify to suit. if you have your heart set on buying one new, amazon has them for a range of prices. from around 50 dollars(cheeaaaaappp and hardly worth it) up to around 300+.

Try Ikea modular. Depending on the size of your tank, they have really unique customized cabinetry, and we did this for our two tanks. Stuff is really sturdy.

I'll have to check ikea. building isn't an option either since I want it to look like furniture... neither my husband nor I are handy with carpentry. plus I'm looking for a stand for a 20 gal and a 10 gal. everything on craigslist is too big (hence the small tanks). I'm spending a fortune to redo our living room, I'm pretty sure plywood and cinder blocks are out of the question... lol although... with the right fabric...

I'm perfectly happy to buy. was hoping to get some opinions on the offerings in stores, ie. Marineland stands, etc.

10 and 20 g are small thus u should be able to find a side table to hold them. If you dont know if it will hold then think of water weight 11 pounds/ gal so look for something that will hold 220 pounds. Ie a build male adult give or take. If it feels sturdy sitting on it hen it should hold the tank. Stay away from particle board if possie
