Mysterious appearing fish
0
Yes through my almost 20 yrs of having a 55 gal salt water aquarium a lot of fish have mysteriously disappeared but now it looks like the virgin birth.
I only have ten fish and I know them quite well but then, from apparently no where, I now have eleven.
I suddenly noticed a fish a little bigger than my flame angel and approximately the same shape but it is almost the exact color of my purple tang. No highlights a solid purple to almost mid night blue.
I had problems during the late summer and early Fall of 2011 and lost some of my fish and/or new additions of the same species just did not work out.
Actually I had eleven but gave up on introducing a new yellow tang. Could never get the group to jive.
Now I suddenly have this mystery fish!
Sounds crazy but there the fish is...thoughts any one?
(I did bring back a conch shell from diving in the Bahamas in Feb. but the thing sat in a tub of Chlorox for a day before being cleaned, neutralized and added to the tank).

Pictures? Does it resemble a fish that dissapeared earlier?
I hate hearing people say "it's only a $3/$5/$1 fish/shrimp, so it's ok if it dies, I can just get another." It's still an animal! All animals should be treated like they're worth $10,000.

that is really interesting, ive had 3 chromis that just disapered, but nothing that appeared execept for sponges and such, maybe what ever you brought back had eggs deep in side the conch and were not effected and survived.

haha niceeeee
Sounds like a coral beauty... did you ever attempt to add one of them? They're sneaky and can hide very well
Or this could just be a late april fools post/troll and I'm an idiot hahaha
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013
20g Long --> currently concoting a build plan
Check out the journal to follow my 20g SW tank

Just the other day I was turkey basting my rocks and out fell a giga clam that I DID NOT stock. Then I remembered I took a sabatical to the himalyas a few weeks ago and remembered bring back that mummified remain of a yeti I stole from a few drunk monks. I think it must be a yak gall bladder I found!!

Smaug, have you been breathing paint fumes? That makes NO sense!

Neither does having a fish magically appear, especially in a sw tank!

My guesses:
An egg or fry on rock or similar
A crossbreed between two existing fish
A previously added fish that hid and changed slightly
A late April Fool's joke that we all fell for
These all seem reasonably logical to me.
