QT Black Kuhlis
In three weeks im getting a new tank. I already cycled the filter on my current tank, so im going to be all ready to add my new fish almost instantly. I want to QT them for a week first though. I plan on throwing my new fish in my current tank, which will at that point be my QT tank. Problem is, its a nice size tank; very deep! I have to catch my current loaches first when i transfer other current fish, and i dont want to do it again for 3 more a week after that! So here is my idea for them during the QT process:
I have a 1 gallon "travel critter tank" that i usually use as a holding tank for a betta during WCs. It has a secure lid with tiny holes for air and a handle for carrying, but no space for heat or filtration. Plan is to put my new loaches into this container, put lid on tight, tie a string to the handle, and lower it to bottom of QT that has heat and filtration. When i go to feed i just have to pull them up by the string so they dont escape. After the week is over and they prove healthy, then instead of chasing them for hours i can simply dump the container into main tank.
Will they be crowded and attack/kill eachother?
Will the cramped conditions ruin their health?
Will the cramped conditions stress them out?
Will they be able to find a way out of container?
Is there any reason that they would need to get to the surface of the water or else die?

Nevermind. My last molly that i was growing out finally is big enough to move to main tank from the 2.5gal. So that leaves my 2.5gal empty. The loaches should be fine in there for 2 weeks. Much bigger area for them. :) The last baby can just chill in there and keep the water cycled for them until i get them next weekend.
