I'm a new betta keeper & a newbie on this site. I've noticed a frequent theme of forum members trying to convince people not to keep bettas in tiny jars/tanks.
"Well, it was living in a cup in the store and it was fine there!"
Would you raise a kitten in a carrier box?

I usually say, "Well, a human could technically live for awhile locked up in a small bathroom... but would they want to?"

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. You have to consider the long term effects and not stay focused on the the short term "results" that you may think you are getting.
I think that is the point most people are trying to make with phrases like that.
