  1. Smile Some basic help with my tank?

    Hello All!

I have a fully cycled 18.7gallon aqua one aquarium( 24 inch long x 12 wide x 15 high) with an air pump, 100 watt heater and a Hagen Fluval U2 filter.

I would like to stock my tank with the following :

    1x Zebra Danio
    1x Leopard Danio
    3x GloFish
2x Cories << they're already in my tank, so I have no choice with them, however I would of definately of chosen to keep them anyroad.
    5x Cherry Barbs

Would you say this tank is suitable and decent?

I would like to get some nice live plants. Any advice would be nice I'm not much of an expert when it comes to plants!,
    thanks!

All of those fish like to school.
The Leopard, GloFish and Zebra are all zebra danio variations so they will school somewhat.
More cories would be preferred as they really like company. Some cories can get to be 3" or so though.
Plants are easy or difficult depending on your lighting, where you're located in the world, and temperature extremes in your home.
I'd suggest crypts of some sort to start with as after they start growing you'll have extras to trade.

Now for the big advice. Find, join in, and support your local or not so local fish club.
People there are much like us, but you get to meet them in person, which really isn't so bad. Usually. ;-)
You'll have people to talk to, swap with, and get local advice about water chemistry and what's available locally.

A lot of those fish you chose are schooling fish and do best when in a school of 6+. So if wanted to go with 6, pick 2 maybe 3 different kinds at the most and go with that. Your fish will be happier and you will enjoy them more

GloFish danios will school with regular zebra danios, as that's what they are.
Yeah I know, thats the reason I did that, because I know they are all danios so they will school together. :)

The danios and glofish are the same so 6 of those are a school. The cherry barbs are also fine but get more females than males. The corys are also fine.

All I would change would be the Leopard Danio. Omit him.

thanks for the help..I kind of think I'm going to go with 6 cherry barbs, the 2 corys, a dwarf gourami and a ram cichlid. Any advice with them two anyone? :)
