    You know the wood they sell for reptiles at petstores? Could I use those in a tank (after soaking and scrubbing, of course)?

    Yep, it is often used. What I do is boil it then put it in the tank.

    The wood you are talking about is probably grapevine. This not suitable for an aquarium.

    Manzanita is less commonly used for reptiles and is safe for tanks.

    i believe that most of the driftwood sold for reptiles would take extensive soaking to sink.

    Stick with what is intended for aquariums :) saves the hassle if something goes wrong
    My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .
